Lean Six Sigma Project on Productivity Improvement
This is a Lean Six Sigma Productivity Improvement Project by Amit Kumar Sharma
Business Case: In the Monthly Management Review Meeting, it was observed that the productivity was not achieved as per the set daily production target (14400units/day) in the month of May’2020 and the last 3 months too. Which is a bottleneck to meeting customer satisfaction. The Customer is threatening to reduce the business stake to 50 % from next month and shift the stake to other suppliers if, we will not meet the demand. In this situation, it is very necessary to point of action to improve productivity.
Problem Statement: Data collection was done for the month of May’2020. It is observed that the factors affecting productivity are operational cycle time and the breakdown hrs. After having a discussion with the production in charge & the team, breakdown hrs. are unavoidable.
So the focus of improvement is on reduction in cycle time. The average cycle time of the assembly line is 2.37 Sec., the Standard deviation is 0.300 and the data is not normal.
Goal Statement: to improve the productivity
Target Cycle time = ≤2.2 Sec. ( by 4th Week of Jun’2020)
