Acts as a functional expert and mentors entry-level engineers working to ensure that projects assigned by Oceaneering Quality Department are delivered as per the quality requirements. Promote and execute quality initiatives across department viz. QMS deployment, Continuous improvement projects, etc.

While this the position will report to the ODC Quality Manager, day to day direction will be provided by Oceaneering QA management.



Partner with Oceaneering Quality Department (representing own function) to understand their need for Quality assurance (QA) for various engineering deliverable

Execute various QA assignments

Obtain required QA/QC documents for databook/data pack compilation from various business units

Prepare quality databooks/data packs to be supplied to customers by compiling project/product related quality documents viz. Inspection reports, test packs, etc. as per the work instruction (WI)

Review quality databooks/data packs prepared by peers and provide feedback

Address queries from customers related to quality documentation of products supplied

Review and approve quality documentation supplied by the vendor for completeness and correctness to ensure compliance to quality requirements

Prepare, review and approve ballooned inspection drawings for manufacturing and inspection

Inspect and ensure compliance to quality of raw materials, parts in the process and finished products manufactured by Oceaneering as well as vendors

Prepare, review and approve Quality Assurance Plan, Material Test Reports, Product Testing Reports, Final Product QC, In-process manufacturing quality

Resolve complex problems with minimal to nil supervision

Quality Management System

Record and analyze quality data using techniques like Pareto analysis, RCA, etc. and recommend corrective and preventive actions

Develop processes that are based upon items deemed Critical to Quality (CTQs), and Critical to Process (CTPs)

Effectively contribute to driving quality initiative while owning various Lean Six Sigma & QMS initiatives viz. RCA CAPA, Productivity Improvement, QMS ISO 9001:2015 deployment, etc.

Serve as Quality representative for client and 3rd party inspection site audits/meetings/visits and coordinates with Quality Control for witnessing a test.

Perform QMS audits as Internal Auditor

Utilize the SmartSolve online system to manage the RCA CAPA process

Analyze SmartSolve data, perform trend analysis and recommend improvement actions to various stakeholders

Operational Excellence

Lead Lean Six Sigma Green Belt level improvement projects under the guidance

Contribute to various OE initiatives like productivity improvement, 5S, etc.


Allocate Quality Engineers from team to various jobs based on project needs

Ensure that Quality Engineers follow established process/checklists

Ensure timely delivery of QA deliverable

Record performance of team members on and off the projects and provide them regular & constructive feedback

Act as a single point of contact for one or more business units (representing own function)

o Communicate with business units to understand their design & analysis needs

o Define the scope of work

o Plan jobs

o Have resources allocated

o Share regular updates about work & KPIs

o Monitor performance on relevant key performance indicators

Actively engage with stakeholders on ongoing projects for Quality Assurance Plan creation & review, Approving Material test Reports, Product Testing, Final product QC, Review in-process manufacturing quality etc to ensure product quality.

Review & approve functional processes, Engineering Guidelines / Checklists, etc. and work towards continuous improvement

Act as Proficient user / SME for one or more for identified technical domains

Prepare, conduct & organize functional training

Track resource utilization and take necessary actions in case of any abnormality observed

Guide team members to have them accomplish their performance goals

Evaluate the need for the resource (people, software, etc.) and provide recommendations

Develop &; maintain individual &; team level competency matrices. Help identify training/development (technical, functional) needs for the team

Carry out APEX related activities

Carry out Primavera P6 related activities

o Project creation, closure

o Activity addition, closure

o Timesheet approval (timely and accurate)

o Coordinate hiring along with line manager


Ensure that the Safety policies and procedures are understood and adhered to so far as is reasonably practicable in order to ensure a safe working environment.


Carry out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems.

Perform the assigned tasks with due diligence regarding the Integrated Management Systems on the Company.

Eliminate waste of whatever form, to suggest the use of more environmentally friendly substances and practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of the environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities however a person is required to mentor junior team members.


Diploma in Engineering (preferred in Mechanical Engineering or allied branch) with minimum8 years of relevant experience


Bachelors in Engineering (preferred in Mechanical Engineering or allied branch) with minimum6 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Should be able to read & understand engineering drawings.

Should have a good understanding of GD&T.

Should have a good understanding of material, manufacturing & testing.

Good knowledge of more than one relevant industry codes/standards (e.g. ASME, ASTM, AISC, etc.)

Working knowledge of Solidworks & AutoCAD preferable

Ability to work in a team and interface with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced project environment.

Basic knowledge of Lean Six Sigma & QMS preferred

Strong in both verbal and written communication skills

Good computer skills (Word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software)

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows. 

Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night

Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace

Work surface is stable (flat)
