Senior Data Project Specialist Equity Operations

The Group: Morningstars Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, funds, markets, and portfolios. The Research group also provides data on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and Treasury markets. Morningstar is one of the largest independent sources of fund, equity, and credit data and research in the world, and our advocacy for investors’ interests is the foundation of our company.

The Role: The Equity Data team is looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative, and results-driven candidate with 5+ years of experience in equity data to join its Projects Specialist team. The team’s mandate is to drive best practices, provide direction, and manage the implementation of key data projects. To this end as Manager - Equity Data Senior Project Specialist, you will work with content specialists, content researchers, developers, operation team members and analysts, quality assurance analysts, senior data leaders and client/third-party stakeholders to define, manage and implement high quality and timely projects. You will be a top performer who is prepared to think critically throughout the project management cycle and continuously seek improvements and efficiencies wherever possible during project implementation. You will work in a global environment, managing stakeholders in multiple regions. This position is based in our Mumbai office. In addition, you will be also managing a small team of Data Project Specialist.

Responsibilities

Work with various members of the Equity Data team to drive key data projects from inception to completion.
Provide rigor to our project management, including promoting the use of Lean Six Sigma, Agile, and Morningstar’s project management framework
Work with the Key Projects and Integration Teams, and other stakeholders to create and groom the Equity Data project backlog
Coordinate with resources across various teams including, technology, operations, methodology and the content specialist team
Communicate clear and concise project status information to stakeholders including Data Leadership, the Sales teams, and external clients
Manage small team of Data Project Specialist

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Accounting/ Finance/ Business.
Strong project and team management skills.
Overall work experience of around 3-5 years in project management set in an agile framework.
Overall work experience of around 3-5 years and proven track record in the Equity Data industry.
Intermediate to advanced level of knowledge in working with databases (SQL).
Good understanding of Equity data and its Data Collection Tools and Systems.
Able to contribute to global projects coordinating with the global operations teams, working across different time zones.
Proven track record of “getting things done”.
Hands on in reporting the weekly, fortnightly, monthly project status to the stakeholders.
Self-starter, comfortable with implementing and executing Agile development processes and accepting responsibility for seeing projects through to completion.
Should be a strong team player capable of building trust within the squad.
Should be well versed in the art of stakeholder management.
Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and management skills.
