BU Description:
The PreSales Innovation and Scale Team oversees the development and sharing of resources, best practices, and analytical reports and dashboards designed to help BMC Sales and PreSales teams sell BMC solutions to customers. This position is for a Tableau Analyst within the PreSales Innovation and Scale Team. This teams mission is to design, implement, and maintain innovative, sustainable, cost-effective and easy-to-use content and solutions that accelerate sales and provide a world-class customer experience.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
The Tableau and Reporting Analyst will play a critical, hands-on role in supporting PreSales stakeholders and executives by developing, optimizing, and updating reports and dashboards needed to assess PreSales engagement with customers, deal progression, enablement and achievement of quarterly and fiscal year targets. This person will consult with stakeholders to understand objectives and create reports and dashboards that pull data from a variety of sources and provide deep business insights for our stakeholders and executives globally. The Analyst will also need to run a variety of ad-hoc and scheduled reports which may involve creating visualizations in Tableau, Excel and PowerPoint. 
The person in this role will be responsible for helping to drive innovative reporting practices within the company. This includes finding new ways to analyze and visualize data to help leadership gain the insights they need to continually improve the business. This person will help to drive improved efficiency and dashboard performance by optimizing internal reporting processes and looking for ways to further automate data collection and preparation. This person will also have the opportunity to test and help drive the implementation of new data business intelligence tools within BMC, including Metric Insights and Alteryx.

Use Business Analysis tools such as Tableau and MicroStrategy to do data analysis and produce compelling data visualizations for our stakeholders
Extract data from a variety of sources, including but not limited to Learning Management Systems (LMS), Knowledge Management Systems (KMS), Content Management Systems, Survey Tools, Databases, and Proprietary Systems
Create data connections to new sources. Use the given APIs and build new Web Data Connectors, scrape data and create Tableau extracts.
Optimize workbook performance. Analyze performance data to identify the root cause of degradation and provide resolutions. Work across user groups to identify and provide agreed upon reports to stakeholders throughout the organization
Analyze data to proactively identify business trends and insights 
Review data sets and determine best way to connect to and visualize data
Translate user requirements into clear and concise reports and data visualizations
Generate customized ad-hoc reports and dashboards for management team using Excel and Tableau

Experience/ Qualifications:
The selected candidate will need to have strong Tableau and Excel skills to be able to produce reports and dashboards that are meaningful and impactful for the organization. This person should have experience merging multiple data sets and conducting data analysis using a variety of formulas, functions and macros. From a Tableau perspective, this role will require in-depth knowledge of calculated fields, Tableau server, as well as how to join and blend data from a variety of data sources. The Tableau Analyst should also have experience creating visually impactful data visualizations within Tableau as well as Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of MicroStrategy and SQL will be also be an advantage for this role. 
The team is operational in nature, and interacts across multiple organizations, geographies and within cross-functional teams. The ability to manage multiple work streams in a highly leveraged matrix structure is critical. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively using virtual technologies such as WebEx or Skype for Business will be essential. 
The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience serving in a business intelligence or data analyst role. To achieve success in this role, the Reporting Specialist must have excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Someone who is a self-starter, passionate about leveraging data to deliver business insights, and enjoys taking on new projects and challenges will be a great fit for the team.

2-4 years of in-depth experience working with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Server, and Excel
Experience building and maintaining Tableau dashboards that connect to multiple data sources and are set up on automated refresh schedules
Experience developing complex Excel reports that leverage a variety of formulas, macros, pivot tables, and charts
Familiarity and experience with other business intelligence tools will also be desirable, especially MicroStrategy, Alteryx, and Metric Insights
Experience working with relational databases and constructing SQL statements is an advantage for this role
Experience working within a Sales or PreSales organization will be helpful
Excellent analytical and communication skills (both written & verbal - English)
Background in working in matrixed environments
