Job description

Essential responsibilities and duties

The role of a Plant Quality Manager is to guarantee that all actions in the Plant comply with the requirements of the TAFE EPD Excellence System, and to do so considering customer, Quality, Division, Business Group and Corporate guidelines.

  • Represent customer requirements internally. o Define Plant Quality objectives and monitor progress.
  • Manage the Plant Quality System in accordance with the TAFE Business Excellence System. o Define, staff, and develop the Plant Quality organization. o Ensure the Plant's compliance with all Safety/regulation standards. o Report Quality results to all relevant parties and maintain Quality records/documentation o Collaborate with the Purchasing organization in all activities and initiatives concerning Supplier Quality Assurance. o Interrupt the manufacturing or the delivery of products when Quality is not assured.
  • Assures consistency of the TAFE EPD quality indicators (customer ppm, complaints, etc) with the indicators reported by the customer.
  • Responsible that only products fully approved are shipped to the customer. For all deviation to this rule a transparent action plan must be followed. Applies equally for modifications.
  • Drives customer complaints resolution process and the follow up of related action plans and ensures robustness of 8D or QRCI. o Manages derogations. o Organizes and/or participates on technical meetings with the customer (technical problem solving, progress plans,) .
  • Define and update the inspection instructions according to the control plan (e.g. final inspection instructions, ok 1st part instruction).
  • Approve the work instructions on the production lines and thus ensure that all necessary inspections are included, the necessary time is allocated in the standardized work sheets and that the related measuring equipment is available and meets requirements (e.g. R&R study, etc ).
  • Ensuring the Calibration of Measuring Instruments and MSA study. o Implements and maintains a Quality Management System in accordance with the IATF16949.
  • Customer Quality Management towards expectation of Customer o Past experience in handling customer quality especially OEMs
  • Responsible to take containment actions at customer end in case of quality issues to avoid line stoppages o Maintenance of All customer related documents o To actively participate as team member in resolving customer complaints.
  • QRCI-8D for customer claims. o Warranty Parts Quality Analysis o Investigation of Customer Return Parts related from Field Complaints.
  • Sub Mission detailed investigation report to customer.
  • QRCI for Customer Claims.
  • Ensure safety and Regulatory Requirement of Product through out supply chain
  • Transparent Reporting to Top Management incase of any major non compliance to product or process
  • Participate in Audit ,Customer certifications and compliance to TAFE Internal systems (e.g 8 Quality Basics, Stop Scrap, Final Inspection Validation, Reverse FMEA) and lead the team towards required qualifications through Trainings o Maintain periodical reporting of KPIs to the Business Group organization
  • Develop a mindset of risk management and prevention in the plant (FMEA, control plan, contingency plan, etc.) o Enforce the record retention related to production quality data in serial life
  • He /She is the voice of the customer inside the plant, but he/she represents TAFE EPD while visiting the customer o Build and sustain strong relationships with key decision makers in the customers supplier quality organization
  • Enable a relationship of trust and partnership with customers, plants and other support functions through quality excellence and a passion for outstanding customer service
  • Propose continuous improvement ideas in business efficiency and cost reduction

 

 

Authorities:

  • Request internal audits to verify the effectiveness and efficiency of the related systems, tools and methods, in serial life (TAFE System audits, Manufacturing Process audits or Product Safety & Regulatory audits). Mandate additional internal audits or quality assessments based on customer scorecard deviation
  • Issue Quality Alerts for customer or internal quality nonconformance
  • Stop production or delivery in case of observed situation jeopardizing product integrity or personnel safety, report it and request immediate remediation.
  • Approve temporary deviation until the issue is resolved, if applicable
  • Authorization to approve purchases with corporate expenses and purchase orders to his/her N-1

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Minimum), If the candidate has less than a Bachelor’s degree, the minimum proven experience in the Automotive industry should be >15 Years
  • Certifications or Qualifications in Quality management Experience:
  • Minimum 10-15 years’ experience at plant Quality with respect to automotive industry
  • Local language understanding, Fluency in English

  • Well versed in all automotive quality standards and methods: o Statutory and regulatory requirements (FMVSS, ECE, EEC, CCC, etc.) o Quality audit requirements (ISO-9001, IATF-16949, VDA 6.3) o APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, etc.
  • OEM specific quality requirements
  • OEM product integrity specifications requirements o Company’s products and technologies o TAFE Management System and Quality Basics
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Capability to build and manage network
  • Best practice sharing and improvement mindset
  • Results oriented with strong written and oral communications skills • Ability to work in a matrix organization
