Job Description


  • A leadership role within NBS Process Excellence, an internal consulting practice working within NBS and across Novartis on priority transformation and design projects. This role has responsibility for managing teams within internal consulting, and either a complex project or a program. The role is accountable for the coaching and supervising of the Process Excellence team on that engagement, with accountability for the quality of delivery and customer. The role brings leadership expertize across the disciplines of process excellence, including lean six sigma, project management, business process transformation and continuous service improvement.

    Projects may be across the diverse internal customer base, focused initially on NBS transformation and enterprise operational simplification, and later on other broader consulting opportunities across the company. Establish the NBS Process Excellence team: o Identify Lean Six Sigma resources across Novartis with the potential to join the team. o Interview the process excellence work force. o Define the operational controls for the program activities. o Prioritization and program planning of projects competing for resource. o Build and manage key stakeholder relationships. Methodology development o Develop methods to help assess current operational maturity, establish standardized frameworks and simplify approaches across Novartis. o Support the Methods Manager to evolve and promote the common NBS transformation methodology. Lead consulting projects o Lead assigned projects. o Follow the project methodology to ensure that projects are properly scoped, planned and documented and the solutions properly designed and implemented. o Ensure appropriate compliance with frameworks as appropriate, including: P3, POP, NFCM, IGM. o Manage teams of process excellence consultants that drive major internal customer transformation programs and projects. o Support the tightening and standardization of NBS policies and processes. o Ensure appropriate business and financial signoff of all outcomes, including savings. o Implement continual service improvement approaches for process excellence programs. Identify improvement opportunities and charter resulting projects o Assist stakeholders to identify and define opportunities to drive benefits. o Work with NBS leadership (Business and IT) and internal customers (Global functions, regional management and country management) and NBS domains to understand the consulting opportunity pipeline and help to convert this into approved customer projects. o Identify opportunities to expand Process Excellence Consulting offerings and develop / improve service offerings to customers Role is likely to involve frequent travel throughout the year to Novartis locations to work alongside customers and provide project oversight where required. Line manage local consulting resources and mentor junior team members in other locations, to include: o Lead Consultants, Senior Consultants and Consultants o External consulting and contractor resources.
