Job description

Purpose of job:
To manage role-based access to FABS ensuring that authorised users are granted appropriate levels of access to SAP. To coordinate the development of standard roles in accordance with corporate standards on separation of duties, security and data protection. To ensure that All processes covered in the job description are aligned with ITIL best practice.

Context and environment:

Systems Development Management

Agrees, with business management, systems development projects which support the organisation's objectives and plans. Ensures that management is both aware of and able to provide the required resources, and that available resources are properly utilised and accounted for. Monitors and reports on the progress of systems development projects, using appropriate quality assurance processes to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with agreed standards, methods and procedures.

Change Implementation Planning and Management

Creates the business readiness plan, taking into consideration IT deployment, data migration, capability deployment (training and engagement activities) and any business activities required to integrate new processes or jobs into the "business as usual" environment. Determines the readiness levels of business users with regard to upcoming changes; uncovers readiness gaps and creates and implements action plans to close the gaps prior to going live. Assists the user community in the provision of transition support and change planning, and liaises with the project team. Monitors and reports progress on business readiness targets, business engagement activity, training design and deployment activities, key operational metrics and return to productivity measures. Defines the series and sequence of activities to bring stakeholders to the required level of commitment, prior to going live.

IT Operations

Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Contributes to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work. Identifies operational problems and contributes to their resolution. Provides appropriate information to specialists, users and managers.

Financial Management for IT

Monitors and maintains all required financial records for compliance and audit to all agreed requirements. Assists all other areas of IT with their financial tasks, especially in the areas of identification of process, service, project and component costs and the calculation and subsequent reduction of all IT service, project, component and process failures.

Autonomy

Full accountability for own technical work or project/supervisory responsibilities. Receives assignments in the form of objectives. Establishes own milestones, team objectives and delegates assignments. Work is often self-initiated.

Influences organisation, customers, suppliers and peers within industry on contribution of specialisation. Significant responsibility for the work of others and for the allocation of resources. Accountabilities, responsibilities and main duties:

Information Management

Conducts investigation, analysis and review following breaches of security controls, and prepares recommendations for appropriate control improvements, involving other professionals as required.

Provides authoritative advice and guidance on the application and operation of all types of security controls, including legislative or regulatory requirements such as data protection and software copyright law. Contributes to development of standards and guidelines.

Manages the operation of appropriate security controls as a production service to business system users.

Security Administration

Maintains awareness of the implication of any legislation or other external regulations which affect security within any defined scope of activity.

Assists users in defining their needs for new access rights and privileges. Operates and administers logical access controls and directly associated security services relating to all platforms used in order to provide continuous and secure access to information services.

Provides advice and handles enquiries relating to other security, contingency planning and related activities.

Business Analysis

Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business opportunities, and specify effective business processes. Specifies their implementation through improvements in information systems, data management, practices, organisation and equipment. Applies and monitors the use of required modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards in an intelligent and effective way.

Utilises business experience and skills to assess and advise on the practicability of alternatives, marrying up technical limitations with operational realities.

Problem Management

Initiates the implementation of agreed remedies, in close liaison with the service desk, change management, configuration management and asset management functions.

Technical Specialism

Maintains an awareness of current developments in the technical specialism.

Identifies opportunities to apply the technical specialism within employing organisation and closely associated organisations, such as customers, suppliers and partners, and advises those responsible.

Provides quality assurance of activities involving the technical specialism.


Information Security
Ensure that their workforce are aware of the information security policies and comply with them
Ensures that the team complies to ISO 27001 and IGA related requirements
Send account opening requests effectively
Disable accounts immediately for leavers and Absconders /on long leaves
Document and monitor / review access levels of his/her team
Provide security awareness and education to team
Manage Records to ensure compliance to Freedom of information act
Ensure incidents of their respective functions are closed within SLAs

Skills and Knowledge:

Expert knowledge of control and separation of duties issues across British Council SAP solution.
Software Development Skills
Designs, codes, tests, debugs and documents ICT systems. Takes technical responsibility for several stages in the software development process. Contributes to project and quality plans.
Business Systems Analysis Skills

Creates user requirements specification and business case for development of ICT solutions by investigating business processes and business needs. Is proficient in business analysis techniques and information modelling tools

Experience:
3 years post certification experience of SAP roles and , authorisations including configuration .and infrastructure.
